What is Nursing Supervision?

Nursing Supervision is new in nursing, but is essentially a personal time for you as a practitioner to have a professional conversation with another experienced professional, the supervisor.

The Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 has a principal purpose to protect the health and safety of the public by ensuring that health professionals are fit and competent to practice. The quality assurance components of this legislation have led to the health professionals developing ongoing requirements for professional education and development. What is Workplace Supervision?

The supervisor assists the supervisee to explore, develop, reflect and uncover aspects or issues in practice and grow while maintaining competence within practice. Supervision occurs within a professional partnership and will support critical thinking and assisted collaborative decision-making in practice.
